SAP LE-WM · End of mainstream support

SAP LE-WM has retired. What choices do you have?

Since December 2025, SAP has ended mainstream support for its classic LE-WM solution (from SAP ERP). Now is the time to evaluate the next step forward for your warehouse.

So what happens next?

SAP customers have two choices

In December 2025, SAP ended mainstream support for its classic Logistics Execution Warehouse Management (LE-WM) solution (from SAP ERP). For organizations still running their warehouse operations on LE-WM, this milestone marks the need to carefully evaluate the next step forward.

01

S/4HANA Stock Room Management

Stock Room Management is a specific offering for installed base customers to continue their light warehouse management implementation in the context of SAP S/4HANA beyond 2025. According to SAP, it is similar to LE-WM but much more streamlined, and is relevant for small warehouses with manual operations that manage stock on storage bin level.

LE-WM features that are not supported in Stock Room Management include:

  • Task and resource management
  • Warehouse control unit interface
  • Value-added services
  • Yard management
  • Cross-docking
  • Wave management
  • Decentral WM

02

Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)

EWM is SAP’s comprehensive warehouse management solution, built to handle complex, large-scale operations. It offers advanced functionality for end-to-end warehouse processes and integrates closely within the SAP ecosystem.

As a more feature-rich solution, EWM may require greater investment in terms of cost, implementation and training.

Both Stock Room Management and EWM ensure continuity for businesses committed to SAP’s platform. The right choice depends on the scale and complexity of each warehouse operation.

Another option

A best-of-breed Warehouse Management System

In addition to SAP’s options, some organizations may consider a best-of-breed Warehouse Management System (WMS), which Nithin B, Senior Analyst at QKS Group, defines as:

“A purpose-built software platform designed to optimize the end-to-end operations of modern warehouses and distribution centers. From inbound receipt and inventory control to order fulfilment and outbound shipping, WMS solutions orchestrate labor, space, and equipment with precision. WMS has evolved beyond transactional control to offer advanced capabilities such as real-time visibility, automation integration, AI-driven resource optimization, and seamless interoperability with OMS, TMS, and ERP systems.”
